A tragic accident occurred in Monserrato, on Via Giulio Cesare, near the municipal cemetery: the victim was Francesco Ambu, 91 years old.
According to initial reconstructions, the elderly man was hit by a car while he was crossing the road at a pedestrian crossing.
After the alarm was raised, the Carabinieri of the Quartu Mobile Radio Section arrived on the scene together with the 118 medical personnel, who could only certify the death.
The driver of the vehicle, a 20-year-old, was taken to the Santissima Trinità hospital in Cagliari in a state of shock, also to undergo routine tests.
The Judicial Authority was informed of the incident, which ordered the return of the victim's body to the family.
