Tragedy in Budoni: Driver driving the wrong way leaves one dead and a child injured.

One dead and a 10-year-old boy injured. This is the toll from the horrific accident that occurred this morning, around 4:00 a.m., along state road 131 DCN near the Budoni junction.
A Volkswagen Passat drove the wrong way and violently impacted one of the concrete barriers marking a road construction site . The driver, a Ukrainian national living in Olbia, died instantly. The Siniscola firefighters arrived on the scene and extricated the victim.
A 10-year-old boy was riding in the back seat. He managed to get out of the car on his own before emergency services arrived and was taken to the hospital. The Highway Police and firefighters responded to the scene of the accident.
The road was closed to traffic in the direction of Nuoro to allow for rescue operations and to secure the area.
