An unusual setback occurred this morning for motorists traveling between Pirri and Monserrato . Near the Caracalla station, traffic suddenly slowed due to a flock of sheep crossing.

The animals, which have been grazing freely in the area and in the Cagliari hinterland for years, have invaded the roadway, forcing dozens of cars to stop and wait for them to pass.

The scene brought a few smiles to the faces of those present, but there was also a certain amount of discontent among those stuck in traffic with minutes to spare.

In addition to the disruption to traffic , incidents of this kind also raise issues related to road safety : in an urban context, in fact, the sudden appearance of animals can constitute an unforeseen and potentially dangerous obstacle and it is no coincidence that for years citizens have been asking the authorities to intervene to put an end to this urban transhumance.
