Cagliari: the city and its residents (and not just those of the capital) held hostage by construction sites. And a political controversy erupts.

Via Roma has reopened after much hardship. But with one project completed, albeit still delayed, another (at least) begins. The latest is the construction of the Metro line between Piazza Repubblica and Piazza Matteotti, which resulted in a narrowing of the lane on Viale Diaz.

A bottleneck that, especially during rush hour, paralyzes traffic entering the city, causing serious consequences for traffic on all roads.

Mayor Massimo Zedda clarifies that this is not a municipal construction site and urges ARST, the contracting company, to speed up the work: "We can only issue permits." Meanwhile, opposition councilor Giuseppe Farris, of CiviCa24, rejects the project. Not just because of the lengthy timeframe: "There's a general lack of coordination," he argues, "the result is clear for all to see: the Metro, in any case, is the craziest public project ever conceived in Cagliari."
