Tourist falls from bike: air rescue responds to Asinara

A serious accident occurred on Monday afternoon, shortly before 4 p.m., along the dirt paths of Asinara Island, where the 118 air rescue service intervened.
A tourist on vacation in the area fell heavily while cycling near the beautiful beach of Cala Sant'Andrea, hitting her head hard on the asphalt. The woman, immediately rescued by her family, was handed over to the doctors and medical staff of CISOM, the Order of Malta's Italian Relief Corps, serving on the island to provide medical care until September 30, as agreed with the Sassari Local Health Authority.
The nature of the accident required the intervention of the Areus air ambulance, carrying the 118 medical team, which transported the woman to the Santissima Annunziata Hospital for evaluation. The tourist suffered facial trauma in the fall. Starting October 1st, the island will be without medical care.
