The boom has been postponed, price increases are "ruining" holidays on the island. This is according to summer forecasts from industry insiders, which show positive numbers for June, in line with last year, but record a slight decline in arrivals and overnight stays for July and the following August. Yet hopes were higher; a record 15% increase was even expected compared to the excellent results of 2024, especially considering the wide range of air routes offered this season. "It's all the fault of the high prices," hoteliers and business owners say in unison, "which makes Sardinia unaffordable for all budgets. Especially Italian ones."
And now entrepreneurs' hopes are placed on the shoulder months: less crowded, cheaper, and therefore perhaps more successful than in previous years.
Paolo Manca, regional president of Federalberghi, confirms the start of a season with both lights and shadows. "We're coming off an undeniably positive June, followed, however, by a July and August that promise to be subdued, with foreign visitors appearing to keep the sector afloat."
