The beach resort was crowded with swimmers, many of whom were in the water, but there was no lifeguard on duty . For this reason, the Coast Guard fined the owner €1,032. The incident occurred Saturday morning on the Torregrande coast, during checks carried out by the Oristano Port Authority – Coast Guard as part of the "Sea and Lakes Safe 2025" operation.

The lifeguard was only appointed later, after a formal warning was sent to the owner. Since the start of the 2025 summer season, Torregrande is the third beach resort in the Oristano area to be found without a mandatory lifeguard. In one case, safety equipment deficiencies were also discovered, while another resort lacked systems to indicate the limits of safe water and the designated swimming area.

The Coast Guard assures that checks will continue throughout the summer season.
