Torre delle Stelle: The festival in honor of Christ of the Divers has been renewed.
A special blessing also to the sailors who fell in war in this seaVideo di Antonio Serreli
The 23rd annual Christ of the Divers festival, now in its stead, was held in the sea of Torre delle Stelle, crowded with tourists and swimmers. Divers from the Carabinieri, the Coast Guard, and the Guardia di Finanza's air and naval unit also attended the event.
An extraordinary event of faith, organized by the Sinnai Sub Club and the Genn'e Mari Nautical Club, in collaboration with the parish of the Madonna della Fiducia in Solanas. After Mass, celebrated by Father Diego Zanda and Father Cristiano Piseddu, in the presence of the Mayor of Sinnai, Barbara Pusceddu, and numerous other dignitaries, the celebration continued at sea with a procession of boats that reached the spot where the Christ rests, several meters below the surface.
Here, dives began, reaching the foot of the statue with the laying of a laurel wreath and the blessing ceremony. The Christ of the Divers was sculpted by sculptor and diving instructor Franco Congiu, to protect divers and all those who frequent the sea for pleasure, work, or simply passion.
The event is part of the calendar of religious celebrations held along the southeastern coast. These include the feast of Our Lady of the Shipwrecked in Villasimius. A statue of the patron saint, Saint Joseph, will soon be placed in the sea near Solanas.
The procession of the Madonna del Mare, scheduled for last Saturday, which could not be held due to the mistral wind, was cancelled .
On this occasion, the procession at sea also included the laying of a laurel wreath and the blessing in memory of the fallen during the last war by the soldiers of the motor vessel Isonzo, which rested in a sixty-meter depth, not far from the other two ships of the convoy: the Loredan, at 70 meters, and the Entella, at 17 meters. The divers from the Sinnai Nautical Club and the two priests, Don Zanda and Don Piseddu, reached this stretch of sea and blessed the site amidst the waves and a fairly strong mistral wind.
