The 25th edition of the Christ of the Divers took place in Torre delle Stelle. The event, organized by the Sinnai Sub Club and the Genn'e Mari Nautical Club, began with a Mass celebrated by Father Diego Zanda, parish priest of Solanas, and Monsignor Claudio Arletti of the Archdiocese of Modena, in the presence of local administrators, civil, military, and religious authorities, the faithful, and vacationers.
The procession of boats followed, winding from Genn'e Mari beach to the submerged statue, 7 meters deep, where Don Diego Zanda, a priest and diver, gave the divers an underwater blessing.
The statue of Christ was created by artist Franco Congiu, a senior diver and diving instructor. He holds a basket containing bread and fish as a sign of thanksgiving to the sea but also to protect divers, fishermen, sailors, and all who live by the sea. Standing 2 meters tall and weighing 4 tons, it was carved from a block of sandstone from the Sinnai quarries back in 2001, installed by divers from the Sinnai Sub Club with the assistance of the "Delfino" vessel, which intervened with a floating crane. Divers from the Carabinieri, the Guardia di Finanza, and the Villasimius Forestry Corps were also present.
