Additional funds to improve the safety of Sardinia's provincial roads. The Regional Council has allocated €3.4 million among Sardinia's metropolitan cities and provinces for extraordinary maintenance of the main roads . "These resources are in addition to the €70 million already allocated ," explains Public Works Councilor Antonio Piu . "Every additional euro spent on maintenance is a euro spent on safety, a step toward a road system that allows for safer traffic and meets current traffic needs. The more than 6,000 kilometers of provincial roads that crisscross the island require maintenance that is essential to reverse the accident rates, which are significantly higher than the national figure for fatal accidents."

The resources, which derive from the remodeling of the mutual investment intervention program, were distributed based on the kilometer-wide road network under each entity's jurisdiction.

THE ALLOCATION – Specifically, the Metropolitan City of Cagliari , which has 748 kilometers of roads, will receive €429,000; the City of Sassari , which has 1,526 kilometers, will receive €875,000; the Province of Gallura Nord-Est, which has 775 kilometers, will receive €444,000; the Province of Nuoro , which has 952 kilometers, will receive €546,000; the Province of Ogliastra , which has 265 kilometers, will receive €152,000; the Province of Oristano , which has 984 kilometers of roads, will receive €564,000; the Province of Campidano , which has 335 kilometers of roads, will receive €192,000; and the Province of Sulcis Iglesiente, which has 340 kilometers, will receive €195,000.
