The Sardinia Region is ready to declare a state of natural disaster due to the drought that is affecting the island .

This afternoon at 2.30pm a regional council was convened to decide on the state of calamity.

A decision that can no longer be postponed, according to Alessandra Todde, who spoke about it shortly before the start of the Abbanoa shareholders' meeting: «We have a situation that must be managed on all fronts. We are allocating extraordinary resources, there will be resources to be allocated also with respect to what the budget change will be , so managing this type of problem on all fronts will be absolutely important."

The president explained: «There are crisis tables, both as regards the Barony and as regards Ogliastra, precisely to ensure that the mayors, who are the first to be involved, have fresh information to provide to citizens. Then we are obviously taking all measures to overcome the emergency . What was said to all the mayors - he concluded - is that from October we will have to sit down to plan what are instead structural solutions in such a way as not to face the same problems as this year next year".
