Critical reactions to the president's statements. The mayor pours oil on troubled waters: "Wrong vocabulary, but not intended"There is controversy after the visit on Saturday to Teti of the President of the Region Alessandra Todde, awarded by the local administration with the “Silver Demon”, in the Bim Taloro Carnival.
The governor's statements, during her visit to local art exhibitions, have caused discussion. "Teti is a very primitive place also in terms of services. Even now it is a very remote place and like all remote places it is important to go there to make them feel part of a shared project", said Todde, also speaking of her Tianese origins to the journalist Bianca Berlinguer.
The reaction on social media was immediate. That of the former regional councilor Fdi Annalisa Manca : «I'm organizing buses for that very primitive place called Teti». And that of the anthropologist Veronica Matta : «This is a lack of respect towards a community that like all has the right to be judged for its specificities and not through reductive and stereotyped lenses».
The mayor of the town, Costantino Tidu, tones down the words: «It is certainly a wrong and unwanted lexicon. Knowing the president, she certainly wanted to reflect on our historical identity and on the shared redemption project».
From the press office of the Region, the clarification: «These are sterile polemics . The president did not want to belittle the community, but rather to exalt a town that, despite the difficulties, is aiming for its own recovery . For the President, who has always been tied to her Barbagia origins, it was an honor to receive this award».
