“I wanted to die, but I took courage for the people who were waiting for me at home.”

The only defendant accused of actively participating in the various stages of the kidnapping, specifically by providing a van that was allegedly used to transport the hostage, is construction contractor Antonio Michele Piredda, 58, from Nulvi, defended by lawyers Antonella Cuccureddu and Ilaria Pinna.

"I prayed," he said in response to questions from the judges, the prosecutor, and the defense attorney. A lengthy deposition in which he described, once again, nineteen years after the events, his ordeal, from his capture in his company to his unexpected escape.
For his kidnapping, in the three previous proceedings, Salvatore Atzas, Giovanni Maria Manca, Antonio Faedda and the brothers Giovanni and Francesca Sanna were definitively sentenced.
