A memorandum of understanding and a communication campaign: these are the tools adopted by CTM and the Postal Police to combat online and social media scams that have also hit the public transport company as a victim .

The agreement was signed at the CTM headquarters in Cagliari by the president Fabrizio Rodin and the police commissioner Rosanna Lavezzaro , in the presence of the director of the Postal Police Francesco Greco and the councilors of Cagliari and Quartu, Maria Cristina Mancini and Elisabetta Atzori , and the general director of the CTM, Bruno Useli.
The protocol was born from scams carried out last year: someone on social media advertised subscriptions to CTM for 5 euros . Fake pages that caused damage to users.

"We immediately started measures to protect customers - Rodin highlighted - a massive communication campaign on our official channels. And involved the Postal Police for the investigations ".

Tracing those responsible is difficult: " The roads often lead abroad - said Greco - and investigations are very complicated. For this reason , preventing and intercepting scams is fundamental".

Prevention and information are therefore needed to combat fraud, as highlighted by Police Commissioner Lavezzaro: «The protection of critical infrastructures becomes a priority in the defense of the complex security system».

With the agreement, in addition to launching an information campaign, the Postal Police will train CTM staff to counter cyber attacks on the company's systems.
