The thief succeeds on his third attempt but is arrested shortly thereafter. It's been an intense two days of thefts in Sassari for a 20-year-old Tunisian man, who targeted three cars located near the city outskirts . On Saturday, August 22, he attempted to break into a first car by entering a courtyard where the condominium's garages were located.
The attempt to break into the vehicle was deterred by the alarm system, forcing the young man to flee. However, he was eventually caught by the state police and reported at large . Yesterday, the non-EU citizen tried again, striking in Predda Niedda and managing to steal a flashlight and little else, before fleeing.
He later approached a small car using the same method, but this time he was caught by the owner, who followed him until the police intervened and arrested him on suspicion of theft. Police officers recovered the stolen items, as well as wire cutters, for which he was also charged with possession of a weapon. In court today, the young man, represented by lawyer Marco Manca, was sentenced to prison by prosecutor Elisa Succu, while Judge Marta Guadalupi ordered him to remain at the shelter where he lives overnight .
