Even in Cagliari the alert for scams targeting the elderly remains high.

During the months of July and August, numerous fraud attempts were foiled by the Flying Squad, during investigations – one of which was conducted in collaboration with the Carabinieri – which ended with 6 people being placed in judicial police custody and three others being reported.

According to the Police Headquarters, the people involved, pretending to be carabinieri, induced the victims to make significant disbursements of gold and money, making them believe that their children or grandchildren were in serious danger and therefore needed money to pay "securities" or compensation.

After the reports of the unfortunate people who fell into the trap because of their concern for their loved ones, the investigators got to work and at the end of the investigations 9 people ended up in trouble.

Much of the stolen goods were also recovered: around 10 thousand euros in cash and several jewels worth several tens of thousands of euros.
