A job done by professional thieves in Sassari. Last night, some people, still unknown, broke into Caffè Trieste on Viale Trieste, stealing €500 in cash. "I'm in shock," says owner Marco Spanu. The thieves also managed to bypass the recently installed alarm system. "They exploited a blind spot, a rather unlikely one, that they somehow learned about."
The hypothesis is that they learned it through days-long stakeouts. "They even avoided the motion sensors."
At the end of the predatory act, there are still images recorded as the thieves, their faces covered, took the money. The State Police is investigating the incident, while alarm and concern are rising among the merchants. "It's frustrating," says Marco, who suffered an attempted robbery a few months ago. "There have been other incidents in the area, and now the neighborhood is getting dirty. It's become a target." Furthermore, Spanu points out, there are few cameras and the area is poorly lit. "There's no sense of security," he concludes.
