From Sulcis an avalanche of observations to the additions presented by Ichnusa Wind Power for the 504 megawatt offshore wind farm that the company would like to install off the south-west coast.
After the agendas against the project approved by the Municipalities of Portoscuso, Carloforte, Iglesias and Buggerru, the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security received observations from the Region, from the two tuna fishing companies, Carloforte Tonnare and Tonnare Sulcitane, and of Italia Nostra.
When it comes to offshore wind power, one of the most felt dangers in Sulcis concerns the tuna route. «The area in which the vast wind farm has been planned interferes with one of the main migration routes of tuna in the western Mediterranean - write the two companies - more specifically, the plant would be located both on the route of genetic migrations and along that which leads to the autumn and winter feeding areas of the Gulf of Lion and the Balearics".
At an environmental level, there is strong concern about the impact that the plant could have, both due to the clouding of the water and the noise.
