"When the beginning of history changes, the whole story changes. Our laws must be updated to eliminate the many discriminatory legacies that are still incompatible with equality."

This, in short, is the message that the Regional Guarantor for Children and Adolescents, Carla Puligheddu, wanted to communicate with the publication of the Proceedings of the General States of Childhood, "against violence against women," presented yesterday in Cagliari at the "Sa Manifattura" conference hall.

In her speech, the Guarantor focused on the violence perpetrated due to the lack of recognition of women as equals, which has led to a series of behaviors and legal reactions, first and foremost resistance to the introduction of the law regarding the mother's surname.

"Every legacy of discrimination incompatible with equality," he emphasized, "must be eliminated. There are five bills in the Chamber that must be approved as soon as possible."

With the father's surname, Puligheddu argues, "the paternal lineage is revealed, the maternal lineage disappears. And the right of sons and daughters to see the visibility of mothers recognized on a completely equal footing with that of fathers also disappears," the guarantor added. " This is what happens, this is violence, this is the principle of cultural change."

Mara Durante, a pedagogue, trainer in children's literature and narrative pedagogy, and professor at the University of Verona, then spoke. She offered a cultural and poetic excursus on the need to listen to minors and engage with them as equals.

Vittorina Baire, president of CRPO, presented the psychological perspective on the fundamental relationship between mother and child during the first thousand days of life.

Valeria Aresti, a lawyer specializing in family law and child protection, discussed the recent bill referred to the Senate regarding "free and current consent," before moving on to the topic of witnessing violence and the urgency of addressing violence against minors.

This was followed by speeches by some members of the Scientific Committee established for the creation of the General States of Childhood, Beniamino Pistidda, director of the artistic training academy "Popular School" who, in addition to his speech dedicated to the importance of harmony in singing lullabies during pregnancy, confirmed his commitment to combating violence against women by putting on stage a student,

Ornella Casu, through the performance of two touching monologues, the first focusing on the theme of rationalizing costs with cuts to maternity wards, the second, dedicated to rape from the famous text by Franca Rame.
Debora Porrà, Mayor of Villamassargia, and Speranza Piredda, a pediatric and adolescent gynecologist, then spoke.

The event, organized in collaboration with the "Coordinamento3 – donne di Sardegna" association, was coordinated by President Carmina Conte and Milena Piazza, an official working in the Office of the Ombudsman for Children and former president of the Order of Social Workers.
"Acting from the beginning," the Guarantor said in closing, "that is, in the first 1000 days of a child's life from conception, is the path that leads to true cultural change."

The meeting opened with greetings from the Regional Council, delivered by President Piero Comandini and the president of the Second Council Commission , Camilla Soru.
