"We'll pitch our tents and stay there day and night." The dozens of healthcare workers who had been promised jobs feel betrayed and are protesting outside the Regional Council: tomorrow, September 16th, they will camp out under the porticoes of Via Roma.
"In November 2023, the Cagliari University Hospital closed the year by laying off over forty internal healthcare workers and hiring temporary workers from other companies in Sardinia," a statement reads.
A few contracts were renewed "with expiration dates spread out until July 2024, but none were extended: all the workers ultimately remained unemployed."
The protest by the AOU health workers' association "paved the way for other companies in the same situation: Local Health Authorities 5, 6, and 8, and Brotzu, some of which still lack stabilization rankings. Despite numerous meetings and the support shown by various political forces, from right to left, " the complaint states, "as of September 2025, precariousness remains unchanged: no concrete solution has been adopted. For two years, workers have been taking to the streets to demand equal treatment. After waiting for political time and always seeking peaceful and constructive dialogue, they now see the need to protest forcefully."
