Two ampoules containing oil from the “Garden of Memory” in Capaci were donated this morning by the Police Chief of Nuoro, Fortunato Marazzita, to the Dioceses of Nuoro and Lanusei , during a ceremony held at the Episcopal Curia, in the presence of the Chief of Staff and the Director of the Lanusei Police Station.

The oil comes from the symbolic place of the Capaci Massacre, in which the magistrate Giovanni Falcone, his wife Francesca Morvillo and the State Police officers Vito Schifani, Rocco Dicillo and Antonio Montinaro lost their lives .

In the garden, cared for by the Quarto Savona 15 association—the radio signature of the escort car—several olive trees have been planted, each dedicated to a member of the institutions who fell at the hands of the mafia. The oil produced by these trees, a symbol of remembrance and redemption, is offered annually to all Italian dioceses to be consecrated during the Chrism Mass of Holy Week and used as Holy Oil throughout the liturgical year. During the meeting, the Police Commissioner also extended greetings and best wishes to the Bishop's Vicar, Father Giuseppe Mattana, on the occasion of the approaching Easter holidays, emphasizing the value of shared memory and collaboration between civil and religious institutions in the spirit of legality.
