"In learning the news of the night-time reopening of the Emergency Department from Sunday, I can't hide a bit of bitterness at the delay compared to the times initially envisaged, combined with the operational impotence of the local administrators".
This was declared by the mayor of Ozieri , Marco Peralta, after the news of the reopening of the Emergency Department of the Antonio Segni hospital.
«The means of raising awareness and protest are feasible and always available when needed, but they proved to be ineffective in the immediate future. In this sense, I think I interpret the common sense of the people - adds the mayor -. There is a sense of precariousness determined both by the impossibility of the healthcare administrative apparatus to channel its personnel according to the needs, even contingent, of individual hospitals and by the almost unlimited faculties of doctors to be able to choose their own destination, a legitimate right which, however, I believe must be surrendered the step to the priority general interest".
«Doctors I want to say clearly - continues Peralta - they must show more sense of responsibility and service . I have also expressed these bitter considerations in all the forums and with the various interlocutors. It's time for everyone to take responsibility."
«All the mediation work and the study of solutions carried out in these hectic days with the various interested parties, have resulted in the reopening only one day earlier than the scheduled outward journey. An unsatisfactory result even if I believe that a single minute before reopening is always time gained for safety and assistance and for citizens - concludes Peralta -. I therefore hope that safer and more definitive solutions will be prepared both for the future stability of the Emergency Department and for faster and more prompt responses for all these emergency cases: solutions that I currently do not consider worthy of a civil society".
