Serafinangelo Ponti is the new general director of the Sassari University Hospital. He was appointed by the Sardinia Regional Council on December 31, 2025. Born in 1963 and originally from Paulilatino, Ponti was selected from the national list of general directors and will serve a three-year term.

The 62-year-old has worked at the top levels of public healthcare for over twenty years and, since July 1, 2025, has held the position of Director of the Complex Medical Management Unit of the "Sirai" Hospital in Carbonia, within the Sulcis Iglesiente Local Health Authority (ASL) No. 7. From 2022-25, he was the medical director of the Nuoro Local Health Authority (ASL) No. 3.

His professional career also included employment at the ASL No. 5 of Oristano, where he served as Health Director of the "GP Delogu" hospital in Ghilarza from 2005 to 2008 and 2011 to 2022, as well as Company Health Director from 2009 to 2011.
