Thomas Schael is the new Director General of the Department of Health . The appointment resolution was presented to the Regional Council today by Regional President and interim Councilor Alessandra Todde.
The appointment is for a five-year term. The appointment comes after "the positive review of the declarations confirming the absence of causes for incompatibility and ineligibility."
The 64-year-old German-born manager —formerly commissioner of the City of Health in Turin, deputy commissioner for the Calabrian health system, general director of the Alto Adige health authority, and general director of the Lanciano-Vasto-Chieti local health authority in Abruzzo— was also in the running for the directorships of the two remaining health authorities. Rumors suggest the president would like to appoint them this week.
