It will be a hellish start to the week that awaits the Sardinians.

A new anticyclone will bring extreme heat to the island again : temperatures well above 40 degrees are expected on Monday and Tuesday, precisely between 44 and 48 on Campidano, Anglona, the plain of Chilivani and Ottana, Gallura, Baronia, Nuorese, Ogliastra, Sarrabus, Gerrei, Trexenta, Marmilla and Capoterrese.

But there is good news: already in the evening on Tuesday, and for Wednesday, there will be a slight "cool down" with temperatures hovering around 30 degrees.

While for tomorrow the regional Civil Protection, with a new bulletin, confirmed high alert for fire danger (orange in the Cagliari area and in most of Sardinia), today meanwhile the 40 have exceeded: 42 in Iglesias, 41 in Sardara, Orani, Ottana, Uras and Dolianova, 40 in Benetutti, Nurallao, Serrenti, Oschiri, Guasila and Milis.

An increasingly tropical climate, meteorologists warn: "All this heat will also warm our seas," explains Mattia Gussoni of the website www.iLMeteo.it. The Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change predicts a water temperature of 32°C for the end of July, warmer even than that of the Caribbean Sea. It is, explains the expert, the «very serious problem of the Mhw, the Marine Heat Waves, which are increasingly frequent with boiling sea water. We have noticed this by bathing in Italy for years now, but this 2023 looks even worse than 2022 ».
