A collaboration agreement to develop research and technological innovation projects applied to the valorization of cultural heritage : Crs4 – Center for Research, Development and Higher Studies in Sardinia, the Municipality and the “Pula Cultura Diffusa” Foundation have signed an agreement aimed at the implementation of activities and initiatives of national and international importance .
The project aims to experiment with new technologies in the museum and archaeological fields, with a particular focus on disseminating historical and cultural content and promoting the local identity. Among the key areas of intervention envisaged by the agreement are the development of artificial intelligence systems for content generation and the creation of digital platforms dedicated to the management and use of historical heritage. These tools will enable virtual tours, augmented reality applications, and multi-user interfaces, with the aim of making the visitor experience more immersive and accessible.
Inclusivity is also a key aspect: the projects will be designed to ensure cultural heritage experiences are accessible to all audiences, regardless of age or technological skill level. Planned activities also include image acquisition campaigns of the area using drones and the use of advanced 3D reconstruction techniques . These technologies will be applied specifically to the Nora Archaeological Park, where the data collected will contribute both to research activities and to the design of new visitor experiences. The information acquired may also be used to monitor the site's state of conservation and assess the effects of potential extreme environmental events.
The Municipality, in collaboration with the Foundation, will provide several spaces for project testing, including a visitor center , a museum, and an archaeological site. "This collaboration represents an extraordinary opportunity to put our expertise to work for Sardinia's cultural heritage," explains Massimo Carpinelli, sole director of Crs4. "We are convinced that technological research and the protection of historical heritage can progress together, generating concrete benefits for the cultural and economic development of the region."
Giuseppe Monni, Councilor for Budget, is also pleased with the agreement with Crs4: "This agreement will strengthen coordination between the institutions involved and expand opportunities for experimentation in the museum and outreach sectors." Andrea Boi, President of the Fondazione Pula Cultura Diffusa, agrees : "The agreement represents an important step in the process of enhancing the local cultural heritage, which includes institutions such as the Nora excavations and the Patroni Museum." The topic of enhancing cultural heritage and the experience of the Pula Foundation will also be the focus of a national conference organized by the Department of Economics of the University of Cagliari, scheduled for March 23.
