The Sardinia Region has announced its appeal to the Regional Administrative Court (TAR) against the authorization issued by the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security for the construction of the electrochemical storage plant in the municipality of Mogorella.

The Region's position had already been expressed at the Conference of Services: the Department of Environmental Protection had clearly expressed its negative opinion, citing the validity of the regional provisions for the protection of the landscape and agricultural lands contained in Regional Law no. 20/2024.
" Sardinia has a duty ," declared Regional Councilor for Environmental Protection, Rosanna Laconi , "to defend its landscapes and the right of local communities to decide how to reconcile development and sustainability . We do not oppose the principle of energy transition, but we demand that it be carried out in compliance with the rules, regional prerogatives, and environmental protection. For this reason, the Region will act decisively in all necessary forums."

The government's decision to authorize the plant, despite the Region's objections and objections, constitutes " an act that undermines the powers of regional autonomy and risks compromising the coherence of the environmental and landscape protection policies that the Council and the Executive have outlined," underlined Councilor Laconi.

The Region therefore reiterates its determination to defend at all levels the validity and effectiveness of regional legislation and to ensure that energy and industrial choices in the area are compatible with the protection of the environment, the landscape and the collective interests of Sardinian communities.

Meanwhile, tomorrow, the demonstration "Save Mogorella - No to the lithium bomb plant in the heart of Sardinia" is scheduled. Organized by the Permanent Garrison of the Sardinian People.
