On the sea of Alghero, among ancient sails and the waves of the Mediterranean, children and adolescents discover the strength of trust and collaboration. It's here that Laurent Campus, 58, has transformed his passion for lateen sailing into a unique project: "Sea as Therapy."
Born from her personal experience with her son, the project welcomes young people with psychological and social disabilities, offering them boating experiences that combine personal growth and ancient knowledge.
The 1953 mastership "Santa Barbara" thus becomes a school of life: on board, there are no fixed roles; everyone collaborates and learns to communicate and face challenges together. Over five years, over 800 young people have participated in the activities, often in collaboration with the Sassari Local Health Authority. During the winter, the learning continues with artisans and shipwrights, including restorations and shipyard work.
The project is now aiming to find a new home and construction site and has attracted the attention of Porto Conte Park and the Municipality of Alghero, both of which are ready to support an initiative that combines culture, inclusion, and social therapy.
