New resources are arriving for the safety of the Mughina tunnel . Yesterday, CIPESS (Inter-Ministerial Committee for Economic Planning and Sustainable Development) allocated an additional €10 million to the Region under the Development and Cohesion Agreement, earmarked for completing work on the important road infrastructure.
City Councilor Pierluigi Saiu announced the news: "I thank Undersecretary of State Andrea Morelli for this," he said, noting that these funds are in addition to the €10 million already allocated by the Solinas Administration in 2023. At the proposal of then-Councilor for Public Works, Saiu, the budget amendment approved two years ago included the initial funding, awarded to OIS—the Region's in-house company—based on initial project estimates.
With the central government's additional funding, the total amount earmarked for the Mughina tunnel now rises to 20 million euros . This investment, according to the former councilor, must now translate into a concrete acceleration of the implementation process.
"The first allocation dates back almost two years," Saiu emphasized, "and the work cannot be delayed any longer. That stretch of road, crucial to the traffic flow of Nuoro and the entire province, has been closed for too long ."
Hence the intention to request a meeting of the Nuoro Municipal Public Works Commission to request a detailed timetable: "We want to know when the work will begin, but above all, when it is expected to be completed. We will be rigorous in ensuring that the deadlines are met and that no further time is wasted."
