The first shipment of Nuvaxovid, the vaccine against Covid-19 from the pharmaceutical company Novavax, arrived in Sardinia. These are 27,900 doses delivered by the commissioner structure led by General Francesco Figliuolo to the Public Hygiene service of the Cagliari Local Health Authority and from here it will be sorted into the other territories.

The drug, approved by AIFA, is the first vaccine that uses protein subunit technology, which has already been used for some time in the production of serums for prophylaxis against other diseases.

According to the indications of the Italian Medicines Agency, Nuvaxovid provides a primary vaccination course of two doses administered 21 days apart, on people aged 18 years and over.

Currently there are 1,343,751 Sardinians vaccinated, equal to 84.1% of the total population, just under 1.6 million. The number of pediatric administrations stands at 37,267 first doses on an audience made up of 83,872 children between 5 and 11 years of age, that is 44.4% (33.9% already with the second dose).
