In the seaport of Porto Torres , the first of the new security checkpoints provided for by the AdSP of the Sea of Sardinia officially enters into operation at full capacity.

It is a building of approximately 300 square meters , equipped for security checks, but also for a short refreshment while waiting for boarding, consisting of a small waiting room equipped with toilets and a control area, where , in addition to the service equipment there are also two offices of the port security staff .

The building was built entirely with wooden panels , facades covered with zinc-titanium slats and provision for the photovoltaic system .

The work , built at the root of the Ponente pier by the company Icort Srl for an amount of approximately 850 thousand euros, will therefore have a dual function : that of an organized environment for Security operations and the second, of no less importance, of covered structure with minimal services for passengers within an operational area currently without a real maritime station. Other toilets for passengers awaiting departure have been created in the boarding areas of the Ponente 1 pier, while for the Ponente 2 dock, the same will be available at the end of the month.

«With the full start of activities at the checkpoint, the Molo di Ponente will finally have a pleasant, functional space protected from bad weather for the orderly carrying out of security checks – explains Massimo Deiana , President of the AdSP del Mare di Sardegna – At the same time, it will be a point for a short refreshment for departing passengers. The building, modern and efficient, will replace the prefabricated buildings used until now by port security personnel, restoring decorum to the civic port and, more generally, to an port of call, that of Porto Torres, which has just inaugurated a tourist season which will involve a 'intense activity for security personnel."
