The final exams for 12,378 Sardinian and 524,415 Italian students began this morning with the Italian test. Sardinia is the Italian region with the highest percentage of students not admitted: 7.1%, compared to an Italian average of 3.5%.
The first written test in Italian is common to all study paths. The topics are developed by the Ministry of Education and are seven in total, divided into three different types: 2 text analysis, 3 argumentative text topics and 2 current affairs topics .
THE TRACKS
The first track of the current affairs theme - type C - recalls Judge Paolo Borsellino through a text entitled "I giovani, la mia speranza" , published in Epoca in October 1992, and reflects on the importance of the culture of legality brought to young people as a long-term deterrent to the proliferation of mafia culture.
The second track of the current affairs theme - type C - is on social media platforms, in particular on the fact that they are full of content designed to trigger the feeling of indignation and that, precisely because of this, they end up saturating our capacity to be indignant . The proposed text is by Anna Meldolesi and Chiara Lalli - "Indignation is the engine of the social world. But is it useful for anything?" - published in 7-Sette, a weekly supplement of the 'Corriere della Sera'. The high school graduates are invited, drawing on their experiences, knowledge and readings, to reflect on this characteristic of social media, also by dividing the paper into paragraphs and then presenting it with an overall title that synthetically expresses its content.
The first track of typology B - argumentative text - is a text taken from the work of the author Piers Brendon entitled "The thirties. The decade that shook the world" in which he talks about the New Deal, the 'recipe' of the American president Roosevelt after the great crisis of '29.
The second track of Type B - argumentative text - is on the topic of "Respect" and focuses on an article by the journalist of "Avvenire", Riccardo Maccioni, indicated by his article as the word of the year according to Treccani and published on December 17, 2024 on the newspaper's website. A topic, that of respect, which is very close to the heart of the Minister of Education Giuseppe Valditara, as also some of the ministerial provisions of recent years have demonstrated.
The third track of Type B - argumentative text - focuses on the piece entitled "A quarter of an era (geological) of celebrity" by the philosopher and essayist Telmo Pievani , published in the quarterly magazine "Sotto il Vulcano" which reflects on the environmental impact of our civilization and the concreting of the territory.
For the analysis of the text there is "The Leopard" by Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa , in particular the passage in which he talks about the visit of Angelica, Tancredi's fiancée, to the family of the princes of Salina.
Also for the analysis of the text there is a poem by Pier Paolo Pasolini, taken from the work “Dal diario“. It is “Appendice 1”, a poem without a title that represents a synthesis of the literary itinerary undertaken by the author since his youth .
The test started at 8:30 and ended at 14:30, six hours to complete it. This year in Italy there are 13,900 commissions for a total of 27,698 classes.
TODDE AND MELONI'S ENCOURAGEMENT
The boys also received “institutional” messages of encouragement: “There will be 12,378 of you facing the final exam. And I want to tell you with all my heart: I am proud of you. Proud of your commitment, of your desire to understand, to change things, to build a better present and future,” Alessandra Todde wrote on social media last night.
"Good luck to all the students who are about to take their final exams. Come on guys!", wrote Giorgia Meloni. "Behind you there are years of commitment, study, effort and many dreams. Take a deep breath, arrive with your heads held high, give your all, be proud of yourselves. Come on guys, you are our pride," the prime minister said in a video message.
