They pretend to be deaf to ask passersby for money. Then, when they're discovered, they run away . The scam of pretending to be deaf has also reached Cabras .

This is a scam spreading throughout Italy, in which fake volunteers, pretending to be deaf, ask for signatures and financial donations for a phantom and non-existent international center for children with disabilities or the deaf.

A few days ago, in the historic center, crowded with tourists sitting at tables in restaurants and bars, some young men approached people, showing them forms to fill out with their name, surname, and signature, then asking for cash to donate to organizations supporting the disabled. In reality, however, the money ended up in the pockets of scammers, who also stole the victims' sensitive information , which had been duly signed on the forms.

Two days ago, someone in Cabras fell for it and donated some money. Some donated ten euros, some twenty. Others, however, without even reading the forms, said they weren't interested.

However, when some people asked them several questions, such as whether they had authorization from the police to ask for money, they rebelled and spoke freely . This made it clear that they were not, in fact, deaf and dumb. Then they immediately walked away.
