In Cagliari , in the Brotzu emergency room , an X-ray machine was installed but never put into operation . The machine is said to have been " unused since November 2025 ," a situation that, after several months, "represents a serious and unjustifiable fact."

Gianfranco Angioni (USB Sanità) wrote this in a certified email sent to the General Management of Arnas Brotzu . The press release emphasizes what is not an "ordinary criticality" but "a clear and prolonged inability to guarantee the functioning of an essential service." To date, the entrance to the room where the device is supposed to be installed is barred.

Those paying the highest price, Angioni writes, are " patients, forced to be transferred to the Radiology department for x-rays, with systematic delays due to transportation times and staff availability." This means that despite thousands of x-rays performed each month, the inoperable equipment "causes a structural slowdown in diagnostic procedures, compromising the timeliness of interventions and significantly impacting the safety of care." The situation is further aggravated by "the imminent increase in admissions due to renovations to the Policlinico Emergency Room."

The problem thus becomes even more serious when considering the volume of services performed: thousands of tests performed each month, which, under current conditions, would ultimately congest the system. This situation, according to the complaint, requires immediate intervention to ensure the facility's full functioning and restore adequate standards of efficiency and healthcare.
