The Court of Auditors has convicted the managers and two local health authority veterinarians of the Europa Kennel for financial damages.

One of the charges is that of " undue profit as compensation for services not performed or provided in a manner completely different from those agreed upon".
Following the ongoing investigation and trial in Tempio, the owners of the Europa Kennel in Olbia have received a ruling from the Court of Auditors . The accounting judges found alleged financial damage and sentenced veterinarian Quinto Puddu, his wife Pinna Murru, and the "Movimento per la Biodiversidad" association. The municipalities of Aglientu, Badesi, Baratili S. Pietro, Bortigiadas, Budoni, Calangianus, Castelsardo, Chiaramonti, Gonnosfanadiga, Monti, Sant'Antonio di Gallura, San Teodoro, Telti, and Tempio, which had agreements with the kennel, which was closed by the Guardia di Finanza in 2019 , will be required to pay compensation.
The ruling stems from the actions of the Tempio Public Prosecutor's Office and the Olbia Financial Police, who secured the seizure of the Olbia Canile Europa kennel in 2019. A trial is underway in Tempio regarding the alleged fraud against 33 affiliated entities, but the Court of Auditors has moved forward: a total amount of over €1.4 million was assessed for damages to the public purse. However, the accounting judges upheld the defense's position, attorneys Nicola Di Benedetto and Silvia Mura, excluding compensation for several administrations, including the Municipality of Villacidro and the Unions of Marmilla and Gerrei (the action to the public purse has expired).
The Court of Auditors also convicted two former veterinary managers of the Olbia Local Health Authority (ASL) for failing to take action against the kennel after several inspections. The Tempio Prosecutor's Office noted that the findings of the ASL inspections were contradicted by the conclusions of the prosecutor's consultants.
A passage in the ruling states that the veterinarians failed to verify "the actual vaccination of the animals housed at Canile Europa and to administer the prescribed prophylaxis to combat zoonoses. Indeed, both, in their capacity as public officials, despite having detected irregularities in health and prophylaxis protocols during inspections, failed to ensure they were adhered to."
