The green light for the Brotzu expansion is a good thing, but now a parking plan is needed. This is the Uil Fp's position on the €129 million major expansion planned for the Via Peretti complex between Cagliari and Selargius.

We are pleased with the unanimous vote by the Cagliari City Council. Now, however, we need to establish a permanent technical-institutional committee to monitor the progress of the works. It is essential that the Cagliari Municipality, the Region, and the company immediately involve the Selargius administration in joint planning.

Fabio Sanna, company secretary of the Uil Fp union at Arnas Brotzu, supports this. "We welcome with interest the statements of Cagliari's mayor, Massimo Zedda, and the regional president, Alessandra Todde, regarding the urgent need to resolve the accessibility and traffic issues of the entire area," the union representative emphasizes. "If today the institutions finally recognize that the 17,000 square meter expansion cannot exist without a structural upgrade of the external and internal parking areas , it is thanks to the constant mobilization that Uil Fp has been carrying out for over twenty years."

The Uil Fp recalls that this issue, a veritable ordeal for workers and users, has been the subject of striking protests and actions. "Like the one in March 2024, when unarmed employees and users were inundated with fines from the municipal police in the areas outside the protest. Or like the large-scale demonstrations and sit-ins in front of the company gates organized in December 2024."

According to the union representative, " finding a parking space at Brotzu is still a factor in extremely high work-related stress for healthcare workers ," he specifies, "with dramatic peaks during shift changes. We agree with Mayor Zedda's statement that the consideration of parking areas and traffic flow should be supra-municipal, given that the spaces directly affect a portion of the Municipality of Selargius."

"We will be on the front lines," the union concludes, "to ensure that the new technological platform is developed alongside a real, modern, and dignified parking plan."
