The average price of diesel in Italy is under 2 euros, but not in Sardinia: it is the most expensive region.

The Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy announces that, based on the latest data collected by the MIMIT Fuel Price Observatory, the average self-service fuel price along the national road network is €1.939 per liter for gasoline and €1.983 per liter for diesel . On the motorway network, however, the average self-service price is €2.017 for gasoline and €2.068 for diesel.
Looking at the individual data, however, Sardinia appears to be the region with the highest diesel prices. Diesel fuel stands at €2.004 , a difference of about two cents.
Along with Sardinia, Molise is above the two-euro mark (2.003 euros per liter), while Calabria and Basilicata (1.998), Valle d'Aosta, and Sicily (1.997) are nearing the two-euro mark. The lowest regional prices are found in Campania and Marche (1.973). Petrol on the island currently stands at 1.949 euros.
