The alarm: "The EU threat makes companies flee from Alghero airport"
Langiu (Fit-Cisl): "We are worried, the carriers participating in the tender of the Region want to withdraw: they fear infringements by Europe"Per restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
There is the shadow of the EU rejection of the 14.3 million that the Region has made available to assign the routes continuously to Alghero, with a negotiated procedure. The regional Transport Department goes straight and challenges Europe, but the two companies that had expressed their willingness, Aeroitalia and Ita, now fear repercussions, i.e. having to - in the future - return any funds collected to guarantee the routes.
"We learned with great concern that the two companies are evaluating the possibility of withdrawing from the offer presented in the call for tenders," explains the Air Transport Coordinator of Fit Cisl, Gianluca Langiu.
For the trade unionist «after the European Union's position on the last call for tenders, the strategic withdrawal of the airlines that had come forward to guarantee the connections was easily conceivable. The crux", continues Langiu, "is represented by the certain joint and several involvement of the airlines in the face of an infringement procedure, since if it were to end with the condemnation of the return of the contributions received, the jointly and severally liable would be the company that carries out these connections . Not even the Region, which generated this situation", concludes Langiu, "can smooth out the debt due to infringement as such an intervention would be considered state aid".
