Teulada, a ghost town in the paradise of Tuerredda
Work has been stalled for years in Malfatano, near Ovidio Marras's farmhouse.Il video di Francesco Pintore
Empty houses, window frames damaged by neglect and abandonment, gigantic apartment blocks with foundations attacked by damp . And silence. So much silence.
Time has stood still in the ghost town just a few dozen meters from Tuerredda beach. Tourists have never arrived on this concrete-strewn hill because the construction site is a vast, unfinished project.
Work in the Malfatano area was halted following a lengthy legal dispute that recently inspired "Life Is Like This," the film by director Riccardo Milani that tells the story of Ovidio Marras, the shepherd from Teulada who became an icon of Italian environmentalism after his long battle against the company that built the tourist complex.
The film's premiere will take place on Friday in Cagliari at 8:30 pm at the Notorious cinema in Piazza L'Unione Sarda. The film's stars, including Virginia Raffaele, Diego Abatantuono, Aldo Baglio, and Giuseppe Ignazio Loi, will be in attendance.
