A 38-year-old worker, Tonino Pireddu, was shot dead in Orani outside his home on Corso Italia. The murder occurred late yesterday evening. The killer was reportedly hiding in an alleyway waiting for Pireddu to return, firing a shot as he was about to reach the front door, after his partner had already entered the building.
The investigation has been entrusted to the Carabinieri, who have sealed off the area in search of evidence leading to the killer's identification. Pireddu, who most recently worked for a utility installation company, was reportedly the victim of an attack earlier this year: his car was destroyed by fire. The community in Orani is in shock.
