Love at first sight never struck. And the latest incident in flight on Tuesday confirmed that the relationship between the Sardinians and Aeroitalia is certainly not peaceful. And while the opposition in the Regional Council does not hide its fears for "disturbing" episodes that are repeated with perhaps too much frequency, the unions are launching themselves against the company, defining the air territorial continuity service as "not up to the standards of the Sardinians". On the other hand, the majority in the Region is certain: the Council is working on new rules that will oblige the companies participating in the tender to higher quality and safety standards.

Reassurances that were certainly not enough to calm the spirits after the great fear at high altitude experienced on Tuesday by a hundred unfortunate passengers.

Arnaldo Boeddu, regional secretary of Cigl Trasporti, certainly does not want to speculate «on a very delicate and dramatic episode» but, «it would not be wrong to check the age of the aircraft and whether it would not be appropriate to insert as a requirement within the tender in continuity, a maximum number of years of seniority of the fleet».

Valerio Mereu of Uil Trasporti does not seem surprised: «It is not the first time that the air continuity service has proven not to be up to the standards of the Sardinians».

But the spotlight has shifted to the definition of the next tender. And more precisely to Rome, where the Region, the Ministry of Transport and representatives of the European Commission have taken part in a discussion to define the rules and parameters of the public tender.
