He had run out of the house to get his dog, without thinking about the consequences of that departure. While on the one hand he was saving his 4-legged friend, on the other he was violating the precautionary measure of house arrest. And in fact Matteo Tocco had been surprised by the carabinieri just as he was returning to the house in Marceddì, where he was serving a sentence. Immediately stopped, the 42-year-old ended up back in court accused of evading house arrest.
The hearing was held in recent days, in which the Terralba marshal reported that during the daily checks for eight months Tocco had always been found at home. Only that day had the military found the gate and the door of the house open but there was no one inside. They had waited and after about twenty minutes the 42-year-old had returned together with his dog, saying that he had moved to go and get the animal that was not used to going out alone.
Defense attorney Marcello Caddori argued that Tocco was forced to leave the house to go and get the dog that, unattended, could have created problems or harm to other people. Judge Francesca Falchi accepted the defense's argument, acquitting the 42-year-old.
