Last-minute train cancellations, cancelled trains, and plenty of uncertainty among passengers left stranded. Aboard the "train of dreams," the one that departs (or should depart) from Macomer to Cagliari every day, there's this too, in addition to the desire to return home with peace of mind. A peace of mind that, for over ten days now, many commuters have lost, between unexpected cancellations and unpleasant surprises upon arrival at the station. "It's a truly complicated situation, so much so that we're even wondering whether, at the end of our shift, we'll be able to get home on our own or not," says an exasperated passenger, AC. But she's not alone. Along with her, there are many other commuters who, after the initial inconveniences, are now suspicious of train 4937 , the one connecting Macomer to Cagliari and which, in the last thirteen working days , has been cancelled ten times.
" 77% of the journeys," emphasizes the passenger, who, along with a small group of travelers, is keeping track of cancellations, days, and accumulated inconveniences. The monitoring begins on June 22nd and ends today, July 8th . Between these two dates, there's a long list of cancelled journeys. But also of requests for clarification that, at least initially, remained unanswered. "We wrote to the Railways' complaints service, but we only received responses that, rather than timely, seemed pre-arranged. They spoke generically of technical problems, without explaining what was actually happening. And when you risk being stranded every day, you need to know if you need to organize a Plan B." The need for explanations also pushed the group to contact the Regional Department of Transport . Just in the last few hours , the response from the Regional Public Relations Office arrived: "From the checks carried out with Trenitalia, it was established that the problem involved critical issues with the rolling stock, which the company has taken steps to resolve. Traffic should resume normally starting tomorrow." This announcement rekindles hopes for a quick return to normality.
But if one problem is nearing resolution, the issue of reimbursements remains. Because, once an alternative solution to get home has been found, the issue of the expenses incurred remains. But obtaining a refund, season ticket holders explain, is far from simple. "Even on this front, the procedure is quite complex. To obtain a refund, you have to comply with a series of absurd rules and calculations. Moral of the story? I'm not entitled to anything for the month of June," concludes the passenger.
