Cagliari City Council fines Old Square . The well-known pub on Corso Vittorio Emanuele II has been fined €1,750 by the City Council. The incident dates back to May 1, 2026, the day of the Sant'Efisio procession. At exactly 6:00 a.m., local police discovered an illegal occupation of public land: in the area in front of the establishment, there were four portable flower boxes, a fifth flower box used as the base of the supporting structure, and four umbrellas .
Specifically, according to the minutes, the four portable flower boxes were removed during the procession, while the umbrella structures and the flower box used as a base remained in place. However, on that day, the Municipality had ordered the suspension of public land concessions in the areas affected by the event, requiring the removal of all furnishings between 2:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
The Municipality detected two violations: exceeding the authorized installation limits and failure to comply with the concession requirements . The regulation stipulated a six-day suspension for the most serious violation, increased by 10% for multiple violations: a total of seven days. However, the company exercised the regulation's right to convert the suspension into a fine of €250 for each day. The final bill rose to €1,750 , paid in a lump sum on August 17th.
