The swimmer from Cagliari, Marcello Guidi , who grew up in Rari Nantes, world silver medalist in the Italian 4x1.5 km swimming relay in Singapore , was awarded by the president of the Cagliari city council, Marco Benucci, and the sports councillor, Giuseppe Macciotta, during a brief ceremony.
A historic feat. In the third leg, Guidi took over the baton with a 1 minute and 26 second deficit to Germany, but managed to make up ground to close behind the winners. Joining him on the podium were Gregorio Paltrinieri, Barbara Pozzobon, and Ginevra Taddeucci.
"Marcello," Benucci and Macciotta said, "is an example for many young people: dedication, sacrifice, and passion can take you far . Cagliari is proud of him, of everything he represents for local and international sport."
During the ceremony, hosted at Rari Nantes, Guidi wanted to extend a thought to the younger athletes entering the world of sport: "Swimming is fun, but it also requires a lot of sacrifice to train and express your potential. Always believe in yourself and never stop chasing your dreams ," he said.
