Gabriele Catta, the twenty-two-year-old swimmer who is swimming around Sardinia and Corsica, a total of 1,200 km in 50 stages, set off again this morning from Cala Mariolu, celebrating Ferragosto in a decidedly unusual way. Today's stage will end in Marina di Orosei, off the beach of Sas Linnas Siccas. Yesterday's stage, the sixth of the tour of the two islands, was entirely in Ogliastra. Catta set off from Arbatax, specifically from Cala Moresca, and reached Cala Mariolu.

Yesterday he stopped overnight at the port of Santa Maria Navarrese with the support boat and the five staff members who are following him on his journey, some in canoes to act as a shield for him on the stretches of coast most frequented by pleasure boats, and then this morning back in the water at Cala Mariolu to begin the seventh stage.

" We're carrying out this initiative to raise funds for two organizations ," Catta explained during a port break in the coastal village of Baunei: "Admiss, which promotes equitable relations between countries, and the Isola Rara Association, which operates in Sardinia to support and protect people with rare diseases."
