Tried, but overall in good condition. It took eight hours non-stop to pull him out from a depth of about 100 meters, but AN, 52 years old from Cagliari, was finally rescued.
This is the epilogue of the intervention conducted by the technicians of the National Alpine and Speleological Rescue Corps (CNSAS) of Sardinia in the Sulidu De Arzane cave, at Punta Arzane, in the territory of Orgosolo (NU), where yesterday two speleologists were injured during an exploration.
The alarm was raised around 1:45 PM, when the 118 Operations Center activated the CNSAS. The first injured speleologist, AG, 60 years old, was fortunately near the entrance to the cave and was recovered quickly thanks to the intervention of the helicopter rescue from Olbia, with an Alpine Rescue technician and the medical team on board.
The intervention for AN was more complex, as he remained stuck inside the cavity, about 100 meters from the entrance. To reach him and secure him, about 30 specialized technicians from different stations in Sardinia were mobilized. The rescue operations were coordinated from a base camp set up in Sa Senepida, with an advanced post right at the entrance to the cave.
Once reached, the man was stabilized by a first aid team that also included a doctor, and then transported to the exit with the help of medical supplies. Once outside, he was entrusted to the helicopter rescue team for transfer to the hospital in Sassari.
The Carabinieri of the Orgosolo Station were also present on site. The intervention ended positively around 9:30 pm, after hours of work in particularly complex environmental conditions.
