Sulliotti, the historic business that has been open on Viale Trieste for over 60 years, is preparing to close its shutters one last time .

Liquors, chocolates, sweets, and advice: for over half a century, the shop has served locals and tourists, always maintaining professionalism and trust. But today, owner Italo Sulliotti is 88 years old and has no one to inherit the business . "It's not for economic reasons, it's a question of age. I have no one to continue after me: my daughters have other jobs, and even my grandchildren work outside of Cagliari, otherwise I would have continued."

From behind the counter, Sulliotti has seen Cagliari change: from the closure of other historic businesses to the opening of the many construction sites still visible in the streets: " When construction lasts two or three years, the shops close, and when they close, the street goes dark . A shop provides light, keeps people moving, offers advice and directions: it's a point of reference for the entire neighborhood, indeed, for the entire city."

Now it's time for the shopkeeper to retire. "The shop is being liquidated, and I hope to close by the end of the year," he explains. The plans include selling the premises, with no rent: "I'm 88 now, and I want to finish on a high note."
