A 77-year-old woman lost her life in a fatal accident that occurred this evening on provincial road 2 in the stretch that connects Carbonia to Portoscuso.

This is the fast-moving two-lane segment: the woman died a few hours later in hospital in Carbonia following the serious injuries she sustained. A 73-year-old man was also injured but his life was not in danger.

The head-on impact between the two cars, a Multipla and a Peugeot 208, occurred on the straight between the Sirai area and the Bruncu Teula crossroads. Sirai medical ambulances, volunteers and the police were on site.

The cause of the crash appears to have been a lane invasion of the Multipla , driven by the 73-year-old.
