A young man, a resident of the Macomer CPR, swallowed batteries and a razor blade, in addition to suffering injuries all over his body.
It is one of the many episodes that reportedly occurred inside the Bonu Trau facility, denounced in a document by the "No Cpr" association .
Not only that, the young man, taken to the hospital, was treated and examined, then returned to the center and repeated the same act the next day.
Furthermore, on the night of August 26th, two people climbed onto the roof of the facility in protest, and one of them was injured in a fall. "This is happening amidst general indifference," the "No Cpr Macomer" association writes in a document . "The black hole of the Macomer CPR continues to perpetuate its system of violence and oppression, targeting people whose only crime is not having a residence permit, a document that the Italian authorities make extremely difficult to obtain and maintain."
The association continues to denounce: "People are locked up for up to 18 months in inhumane conditions, in stifling heat, with poor food, without adequate legal and medical assistance, just like in concentration camps."
According to the association, witnesses reported screams and noises, enough to prompt an ambulance to arrive. The association's document continues: "We report the presence of people who should not be locked up due to their fragile health conditions, which make them totally unfit for detention according to the CPR regulations themselves, but whose release depends on a medical certificate that is rarely produced . We continue to report the illegal confiscation of detainees' cell phones, which limits their ability to communicate with the outside world. The CPR continues to be a place totally beyond the law and without any basic humanity, a horror that has been perpetuated before our eyes for five years now, always with the same odious characteristics . For this reason," the statement concludes, "we never tire of calling for the closure of this abomination."
